About the event

About the speaker:

John Barton (PhD, Makerere University, Uganda) is Director of the Center for Faith and Learning at Pepperdine University, where he also has faculty appointments in the Religion and Philosophy Division, the graduate program in Social Entrepreneurship, and the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Caruso School of Law. He is an interfaith activist and scholar of interreligious studies, and is editor of A Muslim Sage Among Peers: Fethullah Gulen in Dialogue with Christians (Blue Dome Press, 2017) and the author of Better Religion: A Primer for Interreligious Peacebuilding (Baylor University Press, 2022). He and his wife, Sara, lived and worked in East Africa for many years, and he currently serves as president of Kibo Group International, a nonprofit organization that partners with diverse East African communities for sustainable development.
