About the event
To further our series on women and sexuality at The Interfaith Center, Dr. Liz Wilson, Professor of Comparative Religion at Miami University will be joining us to share some of her research from Christianity and Asian religious traditions in regards to women and sexuality. She will also be sharing more about the Family, Religion, and Well-Being in India: A Study Abroad Workshop that she will be leading with Dr. Vaishali Raval, Associate Professor of Psychology. This study abroad program is designed for students in psychology, religion, and global health, providing a unique opportunity to study families, gender, health, and well-being within cultural context. Prior to traveling, students engage with the scholarly literature focusing on the role of culture in understanding human psyche and behavior. In particular, cultural and cross-cultural perspectives on family relationships, gender, emotion, child-rearing, and mental health in India are explored, while critically evaluating the limited applicability of psychological theories to international populations.
