Despite centuries of Christian-sponsored violence (physical, psychological, theological, and spiritual) against the Queer community, LGBTQIA+ Christians have reclaimed space in churches and in theology. Drawing on a rich history of LGBTQIA+ activism, Queer theology, and examples from the lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ Christians, this presentation will look at violence against the Queer community in churches and congregations. It will also examine the rise of Christian nationalism as a vehicle for exporting anti-Queer theology into law and politics around the world.
